Alison Oldfield

Lecturer, School of Education"

Introduction

My teaching and research is broadly interdisciplinary and sits at the intersections of education, digital technologies, inclusion, and climate change.   In the School of Education, I primarily teach on the MSc Learning, Technology and Society and MSc Education and Climate Change programmes. My recent research projects consider collaborative design and development of technologies to support and better understand aspects of education and learning. I am currently working alongside computer science and robotics colleagues on projects to develop multi-sensory tangible technologies that facilitate social play between autistic and non-autistic children and also to consider the potential use of soft robotics to support non-verbal communication. I am also currently involved in research looking at the role of 'craftivism' activities for discussing climate change in secondary school classrooms and the intersection of time and disability in the consideration and pursuit of just transitions.
