Professor of Sonic Interaction"
Dr Atau Tanaka is a visiting professor of Sonic Interaction displays. He read Physical Sciences at Harvard before gaining his doctorate in Computer Music at Stanford. There he combined biomedical sciences and music using the muscle electromyogram as an interface for live electronic music performance. He has since helped to establish the emerging fields of Sonic Interaction Design (SID) and Music Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). He has carried out research at IRCAM Centre Pompidou, Apple France, and Sony Computer Science Laboratory (CSL) Paris and has held awards from the European Research Council (ERC).
