My work is associated with BIG::Health.
Matthew is a Research Associate and LEAP Fellow in the School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology at the University of Bristol.
He is currently a researcher in residence and research fellow with LEAP - an EPSRC funded Digital Health Hub for the South West of England and Wales. His work brings together NHS trusts, industry, academia, patients, and healthcare professionals across a range of digital health projects.
His research interests include immersive technologies (AR/VR) and physical computing – with a focus on how these technologies can support collaboration and education. His PhD in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bath investigated the use of collaborative and tangible augmented reality to support patient education around spinal anatomy and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) disease progression. Throughout his PhD, he has worked with clinicians and patients at the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH), rheumatology charities, and industry.
