Rich Hemming is a Senior Research Associate in Immersive Technologies at the Centre for Sociodigital Futures (CenSoF), University of Bristol. His work focuses on immersive technologies as objects of interdisciplinary inquiry, exploring how XR systems, spatial media, and emerging technical infrastructures shape sociodigital futures in the making. His doctoral research at Royal Holloway, University of London, explores head-tracked sonification for augmented reality navigation, using procedural audio to support spatial awareness for low-vision users. Alongside his academic role, Rich is Founder of the Simulated Audio Reality Lab (S_A_R_Lab), an independent research and prototyping studio exploring extended audio realities, perceptual sound systems, and inclusive immersive design.
